Citizen Science Community Resources was founded in 2014 by Jackie James-Creedon, alongside residents of Tonawanda, NY. Ms. James-Creedon is an environmental activist known for her work with the Clean Air Coalition of Western New York.
From 2005-2009, Ms. James-Creedon and the CACWNY worked continuously to hold Tonawanda Coke Corporation -- a local foundry coke plant -- and its environmental manager responsible for emitting dangerous chemicals into the surrounding neighborhood. The organization combined community-based science, collaboration with government agencies, and ongoing public pressure from community members and local media to achieve their goal.
Today CSCR, led by Ms. James-Creedon, continues to utilize and teach this unique winning strategy in Western New York as well as other communities nationwide which face the negative impact of industrial pollution.
