Once the heavy metals are in the soil, they tend to stay there, but there are ways to reduce your exposure.

Some metals, like zinc, nickel, and copper, are essential in small amounts for a healthy diet. However, either too much or too little of these substances can have harmful effects. Some metals are more harmful (like lead and arsenic), and can have more serious health effects.
